In this video I’m sharing my full Derwent Inktense 100 swatch sheet along with two brand conversion charts: • Derwent Inktense to Polychromos (71 matches) • Derwent Inktense to Prismacolor Premier (67 matches) If you’ve ever wondered how to convert Derwent Inktense to Polychromos or Prismacolor, how to substitute Inktense in a colour along, or how to layer coloured pencils over an Inktense base, this video will talk you through it step by step. These charts help you: ✔ Convert Derwent Inktense colours into Polychromos Pencils ✔ Convert Derwent Inktense colours into Prismacolor Pencils ✔ Substitute Inktense if you don’t own the set ✔ Create matching coloured pencil combinations by choosing shadow and highlight colours over Inktense bases ✔ Bridge Inktense to multiple other brands using my master conversion chart I matched colours activated. While paper type and layering will affect depth, these charts provide reliable colour family matches for layering and substitution. If you have been wondering which coloured pencils actually work best in Fairytales & Folklore by Emelie Lidehäll Öberg, this video is for you. I tested 8 different pencil brands on the same page using the same layering and blending approach so we could see how each one truly performs on this paper. If you have struggled with blending, layering or colour payoff in this book, the paper may be the reason. Some pencils grip better, some sit on top, and some fill the tooth much faster than others. In this comparison I tested Prismacolor, Polychromos, Black Widow, Luminance, Ohuhu Halawa, Arrtx, Castle Arts Soft Touch and Chromaflow. Each brand is scored in four categories including overall feel, colour payoff, layering and blending. At the end, I share which pencil performed best overall and which brands are still solid options for this paper. If you already own pencils that ranked lower, do not worry. I also share practical tips such as adjusting pressure, layering lightly, using a harder base layer and even applying workable fixative to help improve results on smoother paper.
