Come behind the scenes with me and see what really goes into running My Colourful Country Life! In this vlog I’m taking you through some of the things you don’t normally see in my videos, from choosing my colouring plans and setting up to film, to editing colour alongs, working on my pencil testing series and creating new resources for you guys. I’m also taking you through the whole process behind my recent Woomer pencil video, including swatching, colour matching, conversions, hex codes, updating PaletteKit and creating all of the charts and colour combinations. There is definitely a lot more that happens before I actually sit down and film a video than you might think! Of course, things don’t always go to plan around here 😂 There are a few distractions along the way, including a very exciting delivery from Kerby Rosanes, farm life, family life and a little bit of diamond painting thrown in at the end. Woomer have just added 17 brand new colours to their coloured pencil range, bringing the complete set up to 150 colours! Of course, I couldn't just swatch the new colours and leave it there 😂 I ended up spending almost a week rearranging my complete 150 colour swatch chart, working out Prismacolor conversions and creating 12 new colour combinations using the new pencils. I managed to find 102 matches between the Woomer and Prismacolor ranges, which makes @WoomerArt one of the closest alternatives I've found so far. In this video, we're taking a look at all 17 new colours, where they fit within the existing Woomer range, my favourite additions, the updated 150 colour swatch chart, Prismacolor conversions and 12 brand new Woomer colour combinations. Dream Menagerie by Kerby Rosanes is his brand-new hybrid animals colouring book, and today I’m sharing a full flip through and review. Is this Kerby’s best colouring book yet? It may already be one of my favourites! In this video, we’ll flip through the entire book together while I share my first impressions, favourite pages and plenty of ideas for how I might colour them. We’ll look at colour palettes, backgrounds, lighting ideas and techniques, plus some of the very weird and very cute hybrid animals Kerby has created. There are Dande-Lions, Toucan Frogs, Lyrebird Dugongs, Cat-erpillars, Kookaburra Koalas and SO many more. Kerby has also included an 'About the Dream Menagerie' section explaining his thought processes behind each hybrid and why he chose to combine them. I honestly wasn’t planning on starting another Kerby full-book colour-along once we finish our current ones... but this book may be changing my mind. 😂 🦁 Should Dream Menagerie become our next full-book colour-along or project book? Which coloured pencils work best in Melpomeni Chatzipanagiotou’s colouring books? Today I’m putting 19 different coloured pencil brands to the test on the paper in Circle of Life to see which pencils work beautifully with Melpomeni’s paper, and which ones might need a little more work. For each brand, I’m using a similar colour combination and the same colouring technique before scoring them out of 5 for: ✏️ Overall feel 🎨 Colour payoff ✏️ Layering 🎨 Blending Then we’ll see which pencils come out on top, along with the ones that were my personal favourites to actually colour with. For this test I’ve also added Derwent Lightfast and Derwent Procolour, bringing our pencil testing line-up from 17 to 19 different brands. As always, these results are specifically about how each pencil performs on this particular paper.
